The Flotilla offers free Vessel Examinations designed to ensure your safety and that of your family while engaged in recreational boating.  These are non-law enforcement inspections of the safety equipment on your boat.  Upon successful completion of the inspection, your vessel will be awarded a decal indicating that your vessel has been examined and meets  all federal, state and local recreational boating safety laws.

Some of the items which are checked include: 

            1.    Proper Display of Registration Numbers;

            2.    Currency of Registration and/or  Documentation:

            3.    Personal Flotation Devices;

            4.    Visual Distress Signals;

            5.    Fire Extinguishers:

            6.    Proper and Working Ventilation;

            7.    Backfire Control Devices;

            8.    Sound Producing Devices;

            9.    Navigation Lights;

           10.    State and Local Requirements;

            11.    Overall Vessel Condition.

Attention is also paid to advising the boater of Accident Reporting requirements, use of Charts and Aids to Navigation, Survival Tips, Fueling/Fuel Management, Float Plans, Weather and Sea Conditions and the advisability of taking Safe Boating Classes  offered by the Flotilla.
